Construction at the Nunnery project continues to move at a rapid pace. We have enjoyed warm and clear Fall weather which is perfect for framing. All four buildings are now framed and we are in the process of installing the roofs.
Rough plumbing and electrical is underway and the bathrooms are being designed. The sisters have given much thought to planning the lay-out of their future homes to be in the best way possible.
The excitement is building as the first delivery of straw bales is now scheduled for December 4th. The months of December, January and February will be exciting as the straw bales are stacked and the earthen plaster is applied to the walls. Look for more information on work days to join the sisters in raising the straw bales and applying the earthen clay plaster to their new homes!

We are aware that the planet, the ecosystem and many beings in the human, animal, plant and mineral realms are challenged. Let us open our hearts and ease our impact on the Earth, hence on ourselves.
Thanks to success in Phase I of construction, the total expected costs for the nunnery project have been reduced significantly! We now estimate that the project will cost $1.7 million dollars instead of the original estimate of $2.2 million. The project originally budgeted for contingencies that might have required the higher cost, but we can safely say that these contingencies will not arise. Fund raising for the project has been adjusted accordingly.
Thanks to our generous donors, the project has raised $914,000 as of March. With the help of our sanghas we hope to raise the remaining $786,000 this year.
