Dear Friends,
This Winter Retreat, the monastery will be offering Sunday days of mindfulness with a more focused theme for learning and practicing and with a differing emphasis for beginners or matured practitioners; and for those interested in the Buddhist Tradition or the mindfulness practice as a secular training.
The first Sunday of the month, as previous, will include a recitation ceremony of the Five Mindfulness Trainings and a Vietnamese Talk from the Venerable Phuoc Tinh. This Sunday is for the general practitioner, beginner and advance.
The second Sunday will be for beginning practitioners who want to learn more about and to practice meditation. We will offer teachings and practices that introduce friends to the practice of mindfulness in daily life, as a non-sectarian method to understand and care for ourselves and others.
The third Sunday will be for the Order of Interbeing members, who will come together to practice mindfulness and to recite the 14 Mindfulness Trainings. This Sunday will also be the culmination of a weekend gathering of the OI members that happens once a month. Although it is geared towards more committed practitioners, it is still open for everyone to participate, especially if you have taken and practiced the 5 Mindfulness Trainings for sometime (2-3 years) and you are part of some Sangha or community of practitioners, and you aspire to learn more about the 14 MT's and to deepen your commitment to the Dharma and Sangha building.
The fourth (sometimes fifth) Sunday will be for practitioners who would like to dedicate more of their life to the practice of meditation and mindful living. We offer more teachings and practices of meditation geared towards those interested in the Buddhist tradition.
