The Brothers and Sisters of Plum Village would like to invite you to join Thay in Southeast Asia, particularly to Indonesia and Thailand for a historical visit that will take place from September 27 to October 29, 2010.
Due to recent events at Bat Nha Monastery, our brothers and sisters in Vietnam ordained by Thay are dispersed everywhere. They are not allowed to practice in Vietnam, and there is no place for them to stay in Vietnam. As a result, the majority of the young brothers and sisters had to leave Vietnam to find refuge in a small, simple center in Thailand. During this trip to Southeast Asia, Thay will inaugurate this center in order to support the young monastics who have gone through such traumatic experiences in Vietnam.
Thay and the Plum Village monastics will also lead two retreats, a Days of Mindfulness, and public talks for the local people. In Indonesia, Thay will offer two retreats as will as a public talk and Days of Mindfulness in Jakarta, Bogor, and Yogjakarta for the local people. We will visit the historical site of Borobudur, a famous shrine to the Buddha, pilgrimage destination, and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
During the visit to Indonesia, the monastics of Plum Village will not take care of organization and registration for our lay friends. Please contact hardy20002020@buanayatra.com to register for the Indonesia trip with the local travel agency.
For each of these two countries, we will reserve only 50 spaces for lay friends around the world to join Thay and the PV monastics. The last date to register for Indonesia is July 30th 2010. The last date to register for Thailand trip is September 1st, 2010. The cancellation policy for Thailand trip is as follows: Before August 15th, the cancellation fee is 100USD. After August 15th, the cancellation fee is 30% of the total cost, after September 1st, the cancellation fee is 50% of the total cost.
