This is an opportunity for friends that have been studying and discussing with friends or local Sanghas, to formally receive the trainings.
The Five Mindfulness Trainings represent the Buddhist vision for a global spirituality and ethic. They are a concrete expression of the Buddha’s teachings on the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path, the path of right understanding and true love, leading to healing, transformation, and happiness for ourselves and for the world. To practice the Five Mindfulness Trainings is to cultivate the insight of interbeing, or Right View, which can remove all discrimination, intolerance, anger, fear, and despair. If we live according to the Five Mindfulness Trainings, we are already on the path of a bodhisattva. Knowing we are on that path, we are not lost in confusion about our life in the present or in fears about the future.
To receive the trainings we encourage you to:
  • study them, including reading For a Future to Be Possible
  • start to put them into practice in your daily life
  • find a local Sangha to support your daily practice
  • fill out an application form and send it to us by March 29
  • attend the weekend Friday, April 5 - Sunday, April 7, to prepare yourself to receive the transmission
During 2013 we will also offer a transmission ceremony during our 5 Day retreats (Wake Up Retreat - young adults to 35 yrs old; People of Color Retreat, Family Retreat) and during the Retreats offered during our Teachers visit in October.
