Winter Retreat 2016 – 2017

winter-retreat-opening-2014Our Sangha of Monastics have met to look at our retreat schedule for the time ahead. We would now like to share with you the practice of Winter Retreat at Deer Park this coming 90 day period.

First arrival day for the Winter Retreat is Friday, November 25. All available arrival days for this practice period are available on our registration page. The Opening Ceremony for the Winter Retreat will be held during the Sunday, Day of Mindfulness, November 27. The Closing Ceremony will be held during the Sunday, Day of Mindfulness, February 26, 2017.

We welcome friends to come and practice with us for a week or longer. This winter we only offer two weekend retreat options with limited space (Opening weekend Nov 25-27 and Closing weekend Feb 24-26) in order to focus our energy on our residential community and friends who come to deepen their practice during a longer stay.

This Winter Retreat we will only host one open Day of Mindfulness each week on Sunday – see our calendar for available days of practice.

During this period we encourage you to take refuge in a daily meditation practice, a local group of practice and regular teachings.

  1. Hi, not sure how the Winter Retreat info manifested..phone internet is a bit tricky…I would like to register for Winter Retreat. Also for volunteer staff, & any discounts in cost. Thank you!!

  2. do you have opportunities for day time visits to get a sense of the setting and place? we stayed at plum village in 1993….a very nice experience…and would like to know what the southern california would be like….we live in Laguna Beach.

  3. Good Evening Dear Sangha, Dear Thay,

I hope this finds you well and enjoying your evening. I am interested in knowing if you have winter retreat practice recommendations for those of us unable to attend formal practices at the monastery. I would like to share a 90-day winter retreat with my local sangha.

Thank you so very much. Have a lovely evening.

    A bow,
    Susanna
