A Day of Mindfulness

A Day of Mindfulness

February 20 @ 9:00 am 2:00 pm PST

This event is In-Person and requires advance registration (at the bottom of the page).

These events usually fill up due to limited space, so be sure to register in advance so you can attend. And if your circumstances change, please cancel your reservation so others may take advantage of the Great Hidden Mountain. If you have questions, please post a comment below.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please register by 8 AM on the day of the event. If you need to cancel, please reply to the confirmation email you receive.

Our hope is to enjoy this time together in a way that keeps everyone healthy. For admittance, please be prepared to share your CDC card upon arrival showing complete COVID-19 vaccination. This means that at least 2 weeks will have passed between your second vaccination shot (if you received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine) or your single vaccination shot (if you received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) and the day you are scheduled to attend.

We ask for your understanding when we say that if you cannot provide a record of complete vaccination, you will not be allowed to enter the monastery. This requirement applies to every person who wishes to attend, regardless of age. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

In addition, we now require that you bring a face mask. Masks are required at all indoor activities, including listening to the Dharma talk, attending the recitation ceremony, and using the public restroom.

In addition, we ask that all guests please observe our dress code: out of respect for our monastic brothers and sisters, please wear sleeves that cover the shoulders (short sleeves are acceptable), shirts that cover the midriff, and long pants or long skirts that are loose-fitting and cover the knees at all times. Please do not wear shorts, tank tops, nor tight-fitting clothing. We kindly ask friends to dress modestly for the duration of their time with us and to share this information with anyone attending the event with you.

There is no cost incurred for participation in the Day of Mindfulness, but a donation is greatly appreciated to keep the monastery open and able to receive guests. You will find donation boxes in the meditation and dining halls or you can donate online.

Scheduled events occur rain or shine.

    • We really are unable to recommend any particular hotel. Best to simply do a search online and find one that works for you. Nearby towns to Escondido are San Marcos and Vista (a little further).

  1. I am traveling with a camper is there room in the parking lot ( need a bigger circle to turn around in)for a day visit.. 2/20 for Mindfulness Day?

  2. Hello,
This will be my first time reciting the Five Mindfulness Trainings. Am I able to officially receive them on the Day of Mindfulness? In the past, some have received a card from a Dharma teacher to note this. Thank you,

    • This particular ceremony is simply a recitation. In order to receive the transmission, you need a transmission ceremony. These usually take place in conjunction with a multi-day retreat. Upcoming retreats include “Falling in Love with Mother Earth” (in March) and Wake Up (in April).

  3. Hello,
I register A Day of Mindfulness on Feb 20th, 2022. I get an email with
    TICKET #TNYEADOM-297-G4XKZH
However, my family want to go. I don’t know how to cancel first one so I try to enter again, this time total 4 people but I don’t get any email to confirm from Deer Park.
Would you please help to update to 4 guests on my ticket.
    Thank you,

  4. Hello. I see there are two spots left for this day, but it says the RSVP is closed. I’d really like to attend since I’ll be in San Diego for the weekend. Is it possible for me to still RSVP? It would just be one person. Please let me know, thank you so much!

    • Yes, the event is full at this moment. But that will likely change during the coming week as people cancel. Please just check the website again if there are any spots that open. Probably later in the week closer to Sunday.

    • The community has been in lazy days, and we have no additional information on the dharma talk quite yet. Just join and enjoy the dharma rain.

  5. Hello, I was informed I could RSVP as cancellations come in. I see the number has gone from 198 to 194, so I am hoping to register myself, but it still says the event is full and RSVP is closed/not possible. Will registration open back up soon on the website? Thank you and namaste.

  6. I would like to visit for a day of mindfulness. When is the next day it is offered after the Feb 20, 2022 date please.

  7. I did not receive an email for my reservation while my friend did. We made our reservation at the same time. Can you check to see if I am actually reserved for one person?

  8. Venerables,
Could you tell me, is there a shady place to park so we can leave our dogs in the car during the Day of Mindfulness?
We would check in with them during breaks but not allow them on the grounds of the monastery.
    Many thanks.

  9. Hello are there any openings for tomorrow? I live close by so I could come last minute or if less than the allotted number show up. The list has been full the last couple of times. Thank you.

    • We released about a dozen spots today from cancellations and perhaps there will be some more this evening. You just need to check the website.
