On this Day of Mindfulness, we will remember the first abbot of Deer Park Monastery, Thay Giac Thanh. The day starts at the Ocean of Peace Meditation Hall above the main parking lot. It is open for the public to come and practice with the monastic and lay practitioners of Deer Park Monastery.
Children’s program on this date: Children are welcome to participate in walking meditation with their families. At the conclusion of walking meditation, children 6 years of age and older may join our children’s program. The meeting place is outside of the big meditation hall (Ocean of Peace) near the yellow star. The program will conclude at 12:30 PM, at which time, parents should meet their children at the Solidity Hamlet Dining Hall to enjoy a mindful meal together.

There is no registration for the Day of Mindfulness; you just show up. There is no cost incurred for participation in the day, but dana (donation) is greatly appreciated. There are donation boxes in the meditation halls and dining halls. The monastery provides lunch.
We ask that all guests please wear modest clothing such as shirts that cover the shoulders and midsection and pants or long skirts that cover the knees even while sitting in a meditative posture.
