End of Winter Retreat Offering

Ocean of Peace Meditation Hall

Dear Friends of Deer Park,

As you may know, the Winter Retreat at Deer Park Monastery is coming to an end on Sunday, February 25, 2018. For more than 2,500 years, this retreat has been an occasion for the lay and monastic practitioners to benefit from each others’ presence and to deepen their practice of mindfulness, concentration, and insight. Recognizing the preciousness of this time together and the teachings offered, at the end of the three months retreat lay practitioners traditionally make an offering to the monks and nuns to express their support to and appreciation of the monastic community. An offering of gifts (primarily cash in an envelope for each monastic) will be presented to all the monastics in a ceremony on the last day of the retreat. The cash for monastics helps each cover their own personal expenses.

This year, Palm (Xóm Dừa) Sangha has the honor of coordinating all local sanghas to participate in this offering. We are tasked with collecting donations and preparing cash envelopes to be offered to the monastics at the Winter Retreat Closing Ceremony on Sunday, February 25, 2018. We would like to invite you to participate in this joyous practice of giving by doing one of the followings:

1. Click on this link to donate using credit cards via PayPal by 2/23/18.

2. Making a donation check to “TNH Foundation” with “End of 2017-2018 Winter Retreat Offering” in the Memo line and mail to the following address by 2/20/18.

(Please email info@xomdua.org or call Hùng at 714-262-6943 or Phương at 714-603-9990 to obtain the mailing address)

These donations will go directly to the monks and nuns of Deer Park Monastery. All donations large and small are welcomed and very much appreciated. Please also share this email to those who are interested in giving and being a part of this wonderful tradition.

We greatly appreciate your support and generosity.

In gratitude,

Xóm Dừa Sangha
