In this Dharma talk given on December 21, 2025, during the Winter Rains Retreat at Deer Park Monastery, brother Man Tue explores the practice of dwelling happily in the present moment through mindful breathing, walking meditation, gāthās, and the simple art of stopping. Drawing on the Buddha’s image of the wild horse, the talk shows how meditation begins with stopping the restless mind and returning fully to the body in the here and now. With warmth and humility, brother Man Tue reflects on how to find peace and even joy in the midst of suffering, sharing personal experience of grief after the passing of her father and how mindful tea drinking, silence, and family togetherness became a path of healing. The talk also offers practical guidance on recognizing both what is present and what is not present in body and mind, revealing how simplicity, acceptance, and mindfulness can nourish ease, freedom, and happiness in everyday life.
