In this Dharma talk, sister Phu Nghiem welcomes the Sangha into a fresh and peaceful Day of Mindfulness centered on education, happiness, and the art of being both teacher and student. Reflecting on the calligraphies “Happy Teacher(s) Change the World” and “Happy Student Change(s) the World,” the talk explores interbeing in education and shows that teaching and learning are not separate. Using simple drawings and lived examples, the speaker explains the five skandhas—body, feelings, perceptions, mental formations, and consciousness—and how mindfulness helps us understand what is happening within us. The talk also offers a practical vision of daily life rooted in four essential dimensions—play, work, study, and practice—showing how each can nourish happiness, humility, responsibility, creativity, and peace. It closes with moving reflections on children’s programs, the school as an extension of spiritual family, and the aspiration to create conditions for the seeds of compassion, joy, and understanding in children to blossom.
