In this Dharma talk given on January 11, 2026, at Deer Park Monastery, brother Phap Luu explores Thầy’s teaching of interbeing as a living insight rather than a philosophical idea. Through mindfulness of breathing, attention, and consciousness, the talk shows how what we consume through our senses waters seeds of fear, anger, compassion, or understanding within us. Brother Phap Luu reflects on appropriate attention, collective practice, and the healing power of Sangha, while also speaking with courage about violence, fear, and the need to transform suffering without turning away from it. The talk closes by connecting the insight of interbeing to the vision of the Thích Nhất Hạnh School of Interbeing, where children can learn mindfulness, emotional care, compassion, and nonviolence from a young age in order to help build a more peaceful and awakened future.
