In this Dharma talk given on January 25, 2026, at the close of the Winter Rains Retreat at Deer Park Monastery, brother Phap Dung (Brother Embrace) reflects on Thầy’s calligraphy “You Are, Therefore I Am” and explores the insight of interbeing as the heart of Buddhist practice. With warmth, humor, and depth, the talk shows how nothing exists independently—not a flower, not a thought, not a human being, not even our suffering—and how understanding causes and conditions helps transform blame, fear, and separation into compassion and clarity. Brother Phap Dung also connects this teaching to education, healing generational suffering, and the aspiration for the Thích Nhất Hạnh School of Interbeing, where children can learn how to understand themselves, care for their emotions, wonder at life, and grow into free and compassionate human beings. It is a joyful and profound invitation to look deeply, to touch true interconnectedness, and to create better conditions for peace in ourselves and in the world.
