Location: Happy Farm (near main entrance of Deer Park Monastery)
We warmly invite you to join the monastic and lay community at Deer Park Monastery for the opening community day at the new Happy Farm.
We will prepare the soil that will nurture our future farm, adding organic compost materials by hand in the spirit of mindfulness and community.
This special morning of service marks the beginning of a project that integrates sustainable agriculture with our mindfulness practice.
The day will include:
- Brief morning gathering and inspiration with singing
- Introduction to the Happy Farm vision
- Mindful community work adding compost to the soil
- Shared community lunch — Potluck — please bring vegetarian food to share!
Please bring:
- Work gloves and water bottle
- Shovels and wheelbarrows if you have them or can borrow
- Sun protection and appropriate work clothes
- Your mindful presence
- A small vegetarian dish to share
- Plate/bowl and utensils
Parking:
- Please carpool with others as parking is limited near the farm.
- You may park at the farm, near the entrance, on the right when you come through the gates. You can also park along the main road inside the monastery gate.
- Out of respect for our neighbors, we kindly ask that you refrain from parking outside the gate on any of the public streets.
Space is limited to 60 participants due to access and parking. We invite you to be part of this meaningful beginning as we establish a space for mindful farming that will nourish our community for years to come.
