Constructing a New Residence for the Monks

Offer a Donation

Your joy is our joy. An important element of giving is the joy and happiness that we experience when we are able to give from the heart.  We hope you will consider making an additional gift to the brother’s residence. Your annual or monthly gifts provide essential income to support the on-going operations of the monasteries, but more is needed to cover construction costs.

Deer Park Monastery will soon start the process of expanding Solidity Hamlet by building a new residence for the monastic brothers. With more young people inspired to ordain and continue our monastic tradition, the monks’ residence has now reached capacity. This is a happy moment: with a flourishing resident monastic community, Deer Park can continue to be a refuge for thousands of practitioners who come every year for retreats and Days of Mindfulness.

In our twenty-two years in the Great Hidden Mountain, Solidity Hamlet has built no new buildings. This will be our first, and we plan to take part in its construction through our monastic siblings and lay friends volunteering their building skills and time.

As we embark on this effort, we ask for your help. Over the coming months, there will be many ways to contribute, including making a donation of any amount (together our goal is to raise $800K!), attending and bringing your friends and family to our community events, and in 2023 physically helping us with the building effort. Please check the ‘Future Events’ below to see the upcoming opportunities to contribute.

As Thay says, it’s not about the buildings, it’s about building the sangha. By each contributing as we can to the new residence, we will continue to strengthen our community and care for Deer Park as our spiritual home.
