Important Information

Please register by 8 AM on the day of the event. If you need to cancel, please reply to the confirmation email you receive.

Our hope is to enjoy this time together in a way that keeps everyone healthy. For admittance, please be prepared to share your CDC card upon arrival showing complete COVID-19 vaccination. This means that at least 2 weeks will have passed between your second vaccination shot (if you received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine) or your single vaccination shot (if you received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) and the day you are scheduled to attend.

We ask for your understanding when we say that if you cannot provide a record of complete vaccination, you will not be allowed to enter the monastery. This requirement applies to every person who wishes to attend, regardless of age. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

In addition, we now require that you bring a face mask. Masks are required at all indoor activities, including listening to the Dharma talk, attending the recitation ceremony, and using the public restroom.

In addition, we ask that all guests please observe our dress code: out of respect for our monastic brothers and sisters, please wear sleeves that cover the shoulders (short sleeves are acceptable), shirts that cover the midriff, and long pants or long skirts that are loose-fitting and cover the knees at all times. Please do not wear shorts, tank tops, nor tight-fitting clothing. We kindly ask friends to dress modestly for the duration of their time with us and to share this information with anyone attending the event with you.

There is no cost incurred for participation in the Day of Mindfulness, but a donation is greatly appreciated to keep the monastery open and able to receive guests. You will find donation boxes in the meditation and dining halls or you can donate online.

Scheduled events occur rain or shine.

  1. Hello!

I am looking into a day to come and visit your wonderful monastery. I will book my flight and book lodging once I register. Would pre-registration be an option for this date?

    Thank you in advance,
    Lily

  2. Dear Sisters and brother,
I would be near your monastery for June 26th, I am coming from France, but this is the only sunday I can come to visit the monastery. I really would like to show the monastery and a ceremony or a talk meditation to my daughter of 9 years old. I love so much Thay teaching, this is really important in my life.
But I see that this day is already full. Would it be possible to visit simply the monastery public parts ? I would be so happy to visit it, I can’t come back another day. Or please tell me if there is any cancellation. Thank you very much for your attention, much love. Laure & Jane

    • Hello Boyer, the day is only full now but we will be adding more spots in June. The only time we are open for the public is on our days of mindfulness. So please check back for spots. If you end up being near and not able to get an rsvp, please send an email to info@deerparkmonastery.org and we’ll see what we can do.

  3. Hi, I would love to visit. I am noticing they are filled, no more space. When are the posted, so I may register early? Is there a schedule that indicates when registration opens for the events?

    • For our Days of Mindfulness, we attempt to post them several weeks to a month in advance. We always have cancellations so those spots are released on the Friday/Saturday preceding the Day of Mindfulness. For the late June events, we will be opening more spots next week.

  4. Hello and I love to visit your monastery and participate in a 2 or 3 day long retreat hopefully latter part of this coming June or early part of July if space is available. Due to my work schedule I am not able to participate any other time anytime soon. Thank you

  5. Hello! I just sent my RSVP for this day of mindfulness on 6/26. Looking forward to it. Might it be possible for me to come on Saturday evening after 7 pm and do car camping? I was at the LA sangha retreat on 4/29- 5/1.

    • Happy to hear that you’ll be able to come on the 26th. Unfortunately, we don’t allow the car camping the night before car. Even as easy as that would be for you. So sorry.

    • We have no wait list, so please check the Friday/Saturday preceding the Day of Mindfulness.

  6. I got tickets for Sunday the 26th and cannot attend. How do I cancel them. I would like to do it quickly so others can go 🙂

    • We just released a few spots just now and usually were able to release a few more on Friday and Saturday as people cancel, so just keep checking the website

  7. Good morning! I need to cancel my reservation for the 26th. I want to make sure another person can take my place. I can’t find my confirmation email

    • We almost always open up more spots on Friday and Saturday as people cancel, so just keep checking the website on those days

  8. Would like to visit monastery in June anytime during June 23 and June30. Is it OK to drop in and visit. Or is it possible for a June 26 Come for a day program ? Thank you.

    • We have one week stays on June 24 and the day of mindfulness on June 26 is currently full but we will open up spots on Friday and Saturday so you can check the website

  9. Good morning Brother Joy,
I have a health related family matter today and I sincerely apologize for not being able to attend.
