January 8 @ 9:00 am 2:00 pm PST

On this day, the community of Deer Park will gather together for the one year anniversary of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh’s passing.

This event is In-Person and requires advance registration. See below.

Important Information

Please register by 8 AM on the day of the event. If you need to cancel, please login again on this page and indicate you are not attending.

We ask that all guests please observe our dress code: out of respect for our monastic brothers and sisters, please wear sleeves that cover the shoulders (short sleeves are acceptable), shirts that cover the midriff, and long pants or long skirts that are loose-fitting and cover the knees at all times. Please do not wear shorts, tank tops, nor tight-fitting clothing. We kindly ask friends to dress modestly for the duration of their time with us and to share this information with anyone attending the event with you.

There is no cost incurred for participation in the Day of Mindfulness, but a donation is greatly appreciated to keep the monastery open and able to receive guests. You will find donation boxes in the meditation and dining halls or you can donate online.

Scheduled events occur rain or shine.

  1. Hello Dear Friends, My husband and I would like to register for the January 8 Day of Mindfulness at Deer Park but I do not know when and where you will post the online registration for it. We have attended Days of Mindfulness in the past and participate in the Vista Little Doves of Peace sangha. Thank you for your assistance. Sharon Monday and Jack Paxton

  2. I would love to attend, but sadly cannot afford to travel to the west coast. Please broadcast this online so that I can be there virtually. I will be there in heart and spirit with all my brothers and sisters.

  3. Hello. I know that registration is full, but can you please contact me if there is any cancellation for Jan 8? Thank you and have a Blessed New Year.

  4. Hi, my mom and I live in Escondido and would love to attend to the Sat 8th event. Any chance there are 2 open spots?
    Much appreciated!

    • As we get cancellations, spots were open up on this page. And will probably get a handful on Friday and Saturday as I will send out a reminder at this time.

    • We do not maintain a waitlist for our days in month was on Sundays, so you just need to keep checking the website. Especially on Friday and Saturday.

      • Thank you Brother Joy. I just staffed during the Holiday Retreat and hope to visit again next Sunday. A lotus for you and the Sangha.

    • Hi, it’s technically Friday 🙂
Would the post above change from “RSVP closed” to something else if spots open up, or should we call to check if available spots opened up?
      Thank you!

      • When spots become available, it will change automatically. For example, we just had three cancellations and the RSVP is open again.

      • I was able to get a spot two days ago! It shows the number of spots available at that time so I would suggest to check the website regularly. Blessings, and good luck to everyone! Marit

    • It says there’re two left and I filled out the guests info but when I press Finish, it says not available. I’m sorry, my mom really would like to attend. Am I doing something wrong?

  5. Hi again! I just wanted to check if the tickets were released yet today (friday)? I didn’t see any when I checked back this morning. Please let me know! I would love to reserve 2 tickets for myself and my mom. Much appreciated ^_^

  6. Unfortunately (not feeling well) I will not be able to attend today’s activities. Sorry about the late cancellation.

  7. I just wanted to express my gratitude for having this beautiful ceremony and allowing our community to come together to honor Thich Nhat Hanh on a gorgeous day. The songs and the memories shared during lunch circle were precious. My mom and I had a very meaningful experience and we look forward to our next visit. Thank you all
