Brother Pháp Giới

Brother Phap Gioi

A Dharma teacher in the Plum Village tradition, Brother Chân Pháp Giới is originally from Vietnam and also a U.S. citizen. He entered monastic training in 2008 at the age of 41 and received the novice precepts on September 20, 2008, at Pháp Vân Temple – Plum Village, with the Dharma name Tâm An Định and the Dharma title Chân Pháp Giới.

He received full ordination as a bhikshu on February 27, 2012, during the Great Ordination Ceremony Tình Huynh Đệ (Brotherhood of Love). He belongs to the White Lotus ordination family.

He is the 550th monastic disciple of Thầy in the Plum Village tradition, the 43rd generation in the Lâm Tế (Linji) Zen lineage, and the 9th generation of the Liễu Quán Dharma branch.

In 2021, he received the Lamp Transmission at Deer Park Monastery with the following transmission gatha:

The wondrous Dharma of the Tathāgata, you have realized.
 The pearl of precepts, the mind seal, clearly illuminates the unborn nature.
 Successor of the lineage, transmitting the Lion’s Lamp.
 Continuing the Mind Seal, the path of awakening is fulfilled.
