Sister Áo Nghiêm

Sister Ao Nghiem grew up in central Vietnam and was ordained in 2006 at the age of 18. After spending most of her monastic life at Plum Village Thailand, Sr. Áo Nghiêm dwells peacefully in Clarity Hamlet at Deer Park Monastery. In her free time she enjoys reading, especially the Jataka tales and stories of the Buddha’s past lives.
A Dharma teacher in the Plum Village tradition, originally from Vietnam, born in 1988, Sister Ao Nghiem entered monastic training in 2005 at the age of 17 and received the novice precepts on May 10, 2006, at Bát Nhã Monastery, with the Dharma name Tâm Diệu Quang and the Dharma title Chân Áo Nghiêm. She belongs to the Cây Hải Đường (Camellia Tree) ordination family.
She received full ordination on January 14, 2010, at Từ Hiếu Temple during the Mùa Sen Mới (New Lotus Season) Great Ordination Ceremony.
She is the 376th disciple of Thầy in the Plum Village lineage, the 43rd generation in the Lâm Tế (Linji) Zen tradition, and the 9th generation of the Liễu Quán Dharma branch.

Lamp Transmission
Sister Ao Nghiem was transmitted the lamp on February 27, 2016, at Vườn Ươm Monastery, during the Ân Nghĩa (Gratitude) Great Ordination Ceremony, receiving the transmission gatha:
"With each step, drawing closer to the True Person,
Profound meaning and deep practice take root within.
The present moment shines in the Moonlit Garden,
Illuminating the path for the whole Sangha."
