At Teen Camp 2024, hosted by the Monastics of Deer Park Monastery, 13-18 year-olds had the unique opportunity to practice mindfulness in nature among peers seeking growth in understanding and love.
During the camp, participants learned the art of self-care through mindful sitting, walking, and eating in noble silence. Activities included guided meditations, hiking, games, and circle sharing. The theme for this year was “Be Alive, Be a Miracle! – You Already Are What You Want to Become.” Campers were reminded that simply by being alive, they were already miracles—experiencing life effortlessly and being part of the web of existence.
The camp focused on helping attendees embrace and transform their feelings of fear, anger, and despair, fostering happiness, health, and freedom. It provided a space for reconnecting with old friends and making new ones, creating meaningful relationships for a lifetime.
“The hike, the games, and all the team bonding that we had made teen camp so memorable. Even without the activities, the free time we had was great as we spent time getting to know each other more and more.” — Teen Camp Participant, 2024

“I would love to return to Teen Camp because of many reasons. For one I love the practices and teachings being taught at Teen Camp. I also enjoy getting to meet new people and making friends. I really enjoy the environment that Deer Park creates, it feels safe and open. I want to come back to continue learning from the monastics and enjoying the lessons being taught. I also like all the activities that are prepared for the teens. I’m really excited to return next summer!” – Teen Camp Participant, 2024
