DonateJoin the Deer Park Monastics to walk "In the Footsteps of Thay" 11am - 1 pm on Saturday April 25 in New York City.
MEETING LOCATION: We will gather at the Carl Schurz Memorial in Morningside Park. We will then walk mindfully up W 116 St to the Philosophy Hall (outside Columbia campus) and down Amsterdam, then over to W 109 Thich Nhat Hanh Way.
Thich Nhat Hanh lived at 306 West 109th Street from 1962 to 1963 while studying and teaching at Union Theological Seminary (UTS) and Columbia University. This period marked a formative chapter in his life as a young scholar, teacher, and activist.
On April 11, 2025, New York City officially inaugurated “Thích Nhất Hạnh Way” at the intersection of Broadway and West 109th Street, honoring the globally revered Zen master Thích Nhất Hạnh. Together, we will go as a river to walk in the footsteps of Thay.
Join us to find out why this specific walk was life-saving for our teacher, and described by Thay Phap Luu as "one of the most significant walking meditation in Thay's life."
Thích Nhất Hạnh Way is a rent-free practice center right in the heart of Manhattan. With our footsteps, we flow as a river to create a practice center wherever we go.

From time to time we offer multi-week courses related to mindfulness, the teachings and life of Thich Nhat Hanh, and a variety of similar subjects. Please see our schedule of upcoming courses.
