DonateDear friends,
Please join us on our North America Tour, as we share about our practice of mindfulness. We are a group of young monks and nuns, students of Zen Master Thích Nhất Hạnh, with years of experience as practitioners training in Plum Village Practice Center in France. Having grown up in the West, with both Vietnamese and Western cultures, we will share insights into the issues that concern the new generation of Vietnamese-Americans or Asian-Americans. The tour will happen in May, 2025. It is for the young people (ages 18-38) with Vietnamese or Asian roots that were either born or raised in North America.
The Wake Up movement was founded in 2008 by our Teacher, Zen Master Thích Nhất Hạnh and since then, it has been guided /propelled forward by the young monks and nuns of Plum Village around the world.
The purposes for the Viet Wake Up Tour are as follows:
The theme for the tour: Mindfulness As Source of Healing
Mindfulness is a powerful energy for healing, offering a way to return to ourselves, mend past wounds, and tend to present challenges. Mindfulness invites us to be fully present in the moment, cultivating awareness without judgment. By anchoring us in the here and now, mindfulness helps us reconnect with our true nature, offering a pathway to healing, both internally and in our relationships with others.
Through practices such as meditation, mindful breathing, mindful walking, Noble silence, loving speech and deep listening, we are able to create space to listen to ourselves. By observing our past experiences from a place of awareness, we can process our thoughts and emotions in a healthier way, preventing them from dictating our current behavior. This safe return to our inner world fosters a sense of agency, self-trust, and self-mastery, enabling us to regain control and heal profoundly.
The Viet Wake Up Tour will be held in the following cities across North America:
There will be a retreat ( Wake Up Spring camp ) in each segment. All the activities will be conducted in English. For more information about the Viet Wake Up Tour please see the poster below.

From time to time we offer multi-week courses related to mindfulness, the teachings and life of Thich Nhat Hanh, and a variety of similar subjects. Please see our schedule of upcoming courses.

Take the Deer Park Monastery and Plum Village community with you wherever you go. The Plum Village app is designed to cultivate mindfulness, compassion, and joy through guided meditations, deep relaxations, practice poems, bells of mindfulness, and other practices — all through a mobile device.
