What if mindfulness was not something parents practiced alone—but something families could grow together?
Join Brother Phap Luu, Sister Phu Nghiem, Dr. Diane Gilbert-Diamond of Dartmouth College, and mindfulness educator Dr. Orlaith O'Sullivan for a conversation exploring the rich tradition of mindfulness practice for families in Plum Village—and the aspiration to make these beloved practices more accessible to families around the world.
For decades, Plum Village monasteries and practice centers have welcomed families into retreats and shared simple, joyful practices that help nourish connection, presence, and understanding across generations. Rooted in the teachings of peace activist and Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, these practices have supported thousands of parents, children, caregivers, and educators in bringing more calm, compassion, and togetherness into daily life.
In this conversation, we’ll explore:
- Plum Village’s approach to adapting mindfulness practices for children and families
- Simple practices and rituals that can bring more presence and joy into everyday family life
- Why mindfulness in family life is drawing growing interest from researchers in health and well-being
- The vision of sharing family mindfulness practices out to the world, and gathering parents for mutual support
We’ll also share how these teachings are beginning to be offered in new online formats—including the upcoming Happy Families Change the World 8-week online course starting June 13, which will also serve as a foundational offering for families joining the School of Interbeing community.
Whether you are a parent, educator, caregiver, or simply curious about mindful family life, you are warmly invited to join us.
