Sixteen months ago, we embarked on a memorable Peace Walk into the secluded mountains of Deer Park, a day that remains a cherished memory for many of us. Brother Phap Dung captured the essence of this event in a heartfelt letter which you can read here.
Deer Park symbolizes our collective commitment to future generations and our role in the vibrant web of life. The spirit of that day, marked by new and old friendships and a celebratory atmosphere, is immeasurable, transcending the finite nature of our fundraising efforts.
As many of you know, the road from the Gatehouse to the Main Parking Lot near Clarity Hamlet has deteriorated, exacerbated by last year’s heavy rains. Despite repair efforts, the condition worsens, challenging our community during large gatherings and Days of Mindfulness. With the construction of a new Monks’ residence underway, we urgently need your support to repair this crucial road.
Join us for another peace walk into the grand hidden mountains of Deer Park on Sunday, July 28, 2024, to aid the Deer Park Road Repairs Project. Enjoy the picturesque trails, with options available for all abilities. If hiking isn’t for you, we welcome you to join us for tea and music instead. A vegetarian lunch will be provided. Please click here to access the hike-a-thon flyer to share with friends and families.
For those who prefer to hike locally, register to hike in your area and share your experience with photos and videos.
